Katie is a counselor by training and a strategist by experience — a rare combination that shapes everything she brings to her work. With a Ph.D. in Educational Policy & Leadership from the University of Iowa and a counseling background that grounds her in the deeply human dimensions of change, she has spent 25+ years working across 49 countries and 78+ institutions, building systems, leading organizations, and sitting with people at their most pivotal moments.

Her original dissertation research — among the first empirical studies on sabbaticals for higher education administrators — demonstrated that intentional renewal benefits both individuals and organizations. That insight is woven into everything she does: the belief that space, reflection, and self-understanding are not luxuries, but the conditions for sustainable growth.

Katie is a Gallup-certified CliftonStrengths Coach and has completed foundational coursework in iPEC Core Energy Coaching and the Breakthrough Laser Coaching methodology. She is an active member of the coaching community and committed to ongoing professional development toward formal coaching credentialing. She approaches every engagement — whether with a university, a nonprofit, a family, or an individual — with the same core conviction: understanding is the beginning of all change.
